Terms of Service

The agreement, in plain language.

Last updated: April 25, 2026
The short version: Buying a Paperverse is a contract. We promise the print, frame, and shipping described. You promise to pay. Anything else is what's in the rest of this page.

1. Scope

These Terms of Service govern your use of paperverses.com and any purchase you make from us. By using the site or placing an order, you agree to these terms. If you don't, don't use the site or order.

Paperverses is operated by Daniel Hwang as a sole proprietor based in Maryland, USA. Throughout this document, "we," "us," and "our" refer to Paperverses; "you" refers to the person using the site or placing an order.

2. Orders & acceptance

Placing an order is an offer to buy. We reserve the right to accept or decline any order at our discretion — for example, if a product is out of stock, if pricing is incorrectly displayed, or if we suspect fraud. If we decline, we'll refund any payment in full.

Once we accept your order and send a confirmation email, the contract is formed.

3. Pricing & taxes

All prices on the site are in US dollars. Prices may change at any time, but the price you pay is the price displayed at checkout when you place the order.

Sales tax is calculated at checkout based on your shipping address, where applicable. You're responsible for any duties, tariffs, or import fees on international shipments (when international shipping is offered).

If we discover a pricing error after you've ordered, we'll contact you with the correct price. You can confirm the order at the corrected price or cancel for a full refund.

4. Shipping & risk of loss

Full shipping details — production time, transit time, costs — are on our Shipping & Returns page and are incorporated into these terms by reference.

Risk of loss passes to you when the carrier delivers the package to your shipping address. If a package is reported delivered but missing, contact the carrier and us — we'll help investigate, but lost packages confirmed delivered are generally the carrier's responsibility.

5. Returns

Our return policy is on the Shipping & Returns page and forms part of these terms. In summary: 30 days for change-of-mind returns (subject to a 15% restocking allowance because each Paperverse is made to order); damaged or defective items are always handled at no cost.

6. Intellectual property

All content on paperverses.com — illustrations, layout designs, photography, copy, the site itself — is owned by Paperverses or used under license. The verses themselves are drawn from the King James Version (public domain) and, when added, the New International Version (under merchandising license from Biblica).

You may not reproduce, redistribute, modify, or create derivative works of our designs or site content without written permission. Buying a Paperverse gives you ownership of the physical print — it does not give you a license to reproduce or resell the design.

7. User content

If you submit feedback, photos, or other content to us — through the contact form, social media tags, or wall-photo uploads in the Find Your Match feature — you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use that content for the purpose you submitted it. Wall-photo uploads in the Find Your Match feature are processed in your browser only and never transmitted to us.

If you tag us on social media, you give us permission to repost or share that content with attribution.

8. Prohibited use

You may not:

  • Use the site for any unlawful purpose
  • Resell or commercially exploit our designs
  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information
  • Attempt to interfere with the site, our payment processor, or our shipping partner
  • Use automated tools to scrape, mirror, or copy site content

9. Warranties

We warrant that each Paperverse will arrive free of manufacturing defects and substantially as described. If it doesn't, we'll replace it or refund you per the Shipping & Returns policy.

Beyond that, the site and products are provided "as is." We make no warranties — express or implied — about uninterrupted site availability, error-free operation, or fitness for any particular purpose beyond what's described on the product page.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the site or purchase of a Paperverse is limited to the amount you paid for the relevant order.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, or emotional distress — even if we've been told such damages are possible.

Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations; in those places, the limitations apply only to the extent permitted.

11. Governing law & disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.

Any dispute arising from these terms or your purchase will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Maryland, and you consent to that jurisdiction. We encourage you to email us first — most issues are resolved in one email.

12. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent version. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. For material changes affecting active orders, we'll email you.

13. Contact
